I've searched this site and forums for a good 15 minutes now after some proxy clips manual, tutorials or even just the release notes but found nothing useful. Kdenlive-org's infrastructure is horrible...

How do I use proxy clips? The option is greyed out in the menus. I've ticked proxy clips in the settings. Tried several video formats and image sequence formats.
Is image sequences supported? I work with large lossless png-sequences which is quite slow in Kdenlive. Would love to make local video proxies for editing.

Assuming 8.2.1 or svn:

Activate proxies for the project profile via kdenlive configure menu. Choose or create suitable proxy profile for project type.

And / Or activate them for a given project from project properties.

That will 'ungrey' the option in the File menu.

I struggle to get image sequences to work as image sequences, they have to be prefixed with 100_ and it's limited to so many I think but I've not pursued it due to those limitations. If they still exist.

The proxy implementation in kdenlive is pretty good. :-)

I missed the project settings activation.
Did that and can do proxies for video but it's still greyed out for image sequences. I wasn't able to get it working with your prefix-workaround.

Proxies do work with images settings are in config menu you probably saw those.

There's also the tick box in the file manager window when browsing to detect and load as image sequences rather than slideshow images with set duration but still needs a prefix I think.

Yeah the 100_ thing was from memory and probably wrong, I found reference to it on a MLT thread somewhere whilst googling for an image sequence solution in kdenlive. sorry not much help.

I still can't get proxies for image sequences to work. I've tried everything I can think of. Imported both as slideshow and file, tried every prefix I can think of. Nothing works.
I've tried to find the MLT thread you're talking about but cannot find it.
