I am unable to use kdenlive because the video out plugins don't have X11 XImage/SHM.

Atleast when i use mplayer and have this output selected, then everything works fine.

When i fastforward the video then i can see it, or when it is paused. BUt as soon as i start the normal playback, then i get a black screen.

Is it hard to include this option?

I think currently most people just turn off desktop effects (both Compiz and Kwin Effects) when using Kdenlive. Not the optimal solution, but an effective workaround for the moment. It would be awesome to have some kind of option in Kdenlive along the lines of "Temporarily disable desktop effects while running Kdenlive". Of course having the system fixed to be able to run smoothly *with* desktop effects would be better still, but this is probably out of JBM's hands.
