Insert text on a video

Sat May 16, 2009 7:40 pm
I always used windows movie maker for video editing. Now I give kdenlive a try, and it works pretty wel.
Only question I have now is how to add comments to my movie?
In moviemaker you can easily add text lines on you're video in different ways, like subtitle, newspaper etc.
Is something like that possible with kdenlive?

thanks
best regards

I've only just started using Kdenlive too but I might have an idea as to what you're looking for;

In the window where you add clips, there's a drop-down menu, click that and then choose the title clip option. This should add a clip to your clip window and then you can edit that to add your text.

Once you've finished editing, drag that title clip to your timeline to add it to your video.

There's a short (4min) tutorial that shows how to overlay a title clip on top of a video track (and a bit more) over in the tutorials section at http://www.kdenlive.org/tutorial/kdenlive-animate-images-over-video
