This question was asked about 12 months ago (http://kdenlive.org/forum/export-dvd-set-chapter-spacing), but it looks like options have changed... The last answer was "you need to go to the timeline and add a guide every 10 minutes. To do that, right click in the time area of the timeline (up to track 0) and select "Add guide" option. In the window, click options "DVD marker" and "New chapter". Repeat this process for all the chapters you want to define."
On my version (0.7.3) on Suse 11.1, the only options in the Add guide box are Position and Comment... Could someone point me in the correct direction? Thanks, John

Currently, the dvd chapters feature is not implemented. The Dvd wizard is very basic, only allowing for a one button menu page. I have a patch ready to implement chapters support, but I still have to work on menus with several buttons. Maybe ready for the next release.
In the meantime, you can use other tools to create your dvd, like 2ManDvd: http://2mandvd.tuxfamily.org |

Thanks for your reply...
Have done lots of investigation since your post, checking out 2mandvd. Appears to be difficult to install in Suse11.1 x64.. 1st problem was trying to compile ffmpegthumbnailer (couldn't :-( ), then finally found an x64 version in packman - seemed to install OK, but when tried to run, turns out it was French, and still had issues running because of missing ffmpegthumbnailer... (I think??) Any other options? Have tried some other progs (kdvdcreator, gany2dvd, tovid suite...), either can't figure out how they work, or they don't seem to run correctly?? :-( Thanks, John

It is possible to create DVD chapters in the latest versions of Kdenlive. I added instructions to the manual:
