I do not know if I am posting this in the right place but I am wondering if there is a way to get video cards to work with kdenlive?
I have tried every thing but kden acts like it don't even know what to do with a tuner card then alone tune to the video feed from them? when ever I try to record I get raw1394 - failed to get handle: Permission denied. FFplay version 0.5, Copyright (c) 2003-2009 Fabrice Bellard, et al. configuration: --prefix=/usr --enable-shared --libdir=/usr/lib --shlibdir=/usr/lib --incdir=/usr/include --enable-postproc --enable-gpl --enable-pthreads --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-x11grab --disable-debug --enable-swscale --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libfaad --enable-libfaac --enable-libx264 --enable-libxvid --enable-nonfree --enable-libamr_nb --enable-libamr_wb libavutil 49.15. 0 / 49.15. 0 libavcodec 52.20. 0 / 52.20. 0 libavformat 52.31. 0 / 52.31. 0 libavdevice 52. 1. 0 / 52. 1. 0 libswscale 0. 7. 1 / 0. 7. 1 libpostproc 51. 2. 0 / 51. 2. 0 built on Jun 2 2009 20:09:15, gcc: 4.1.1 20060724 (prerelease) (4.1.1-4pclos2007) pipe:: Error while opening file if I read that right it is looking for a firewire camera instead of looking at the capture card, how do I, and can I fix this? |

What kind of video card is it firewire? usb? pci? It looks like you have a usb or pci card but I need to make sure.
On the record monitor tab click on where it says firewire and change it to video4linux |

"raw1394 - failed to get handle: Permission denied." Your distribution does not give you permission to use your FireWire camera by default. You will have to learn how to circumvent that.
