[Solved I hope] kdenlive crashes opening existin project

I am running kdenlive 0.7.8 and KDE 4.6.5 under PCLinuxOS 2011.6. I found it crashed when opening a project created before on another distro, so I created a new small project using some of the same video clips, saved and exited, on restart when I try to open this project it crashes.

I've updated to 0.8 of kdenlive (together with everything else it needs) and it still crashes open these projects or even just opening the video files and building the thumbnails. Anyone any ideas please? The files are 16:9 format from a JVC h/disk camcorder which have had the headers corrected to add the 16:9 flag correctly.

It would seem that an update to glibc, mencoder and mplayer today on my Linux system has fixed this problem, at least it has not crashed when I have tested opening the original projects which were failing before.
