The live usb files say they are outdated and should not be used. Can someone recommend another way to obtain updated iso files?

Yes, create an ISO file yourself :)
If someone is able to create updated ISO files, this would be great. We (devs) simply do not have the time (and knowledge, as for myself) to create them.
