I installed kdenlive from package manager. I am running Ubuntu 10.10 kde. when I click "connect" I get the connection and prview window. If I click play - nothing happens. If I click forward - the camera advances for about 3 secs and then goes into pause.

I have tried dvgrab -i in the terminal and that is fine.

This is my udev 50 rules firewire section

# FireWire (firewire-core driver: IIDC devices, AV/C devices)
SUBSYSTEM=="firewire", ATTR{units}=="*0x00a02d:0x00010*", GROUP="video"
SUBSYSTEM=="firewire", ATTR{units}=="*0x00b09d:0x00010*", GROUP="video"
SUBSYSTEM=="firewire", ATTR{units}=="*0x00a02d:0x010001*", GROUP="video"
SUBSYSTEM=="firewire", ATTR{units}=="*0x00a02d:0x014001*", GROUP="video"
KERNEL=="raw1394", GROUP="disk"

and the /etc/modprobe entries

# Select the legacy firewire stack over the new CONFIG_FIREWIRE one.

#blacklist ohci1394
#blacklist sbp2
#blacklist dv1394
#blacklist raw1394
#blacklist video1394

#blacklist firewire-ohci
#blacklist firewire-sbp2

and the result of lsmod | egrep 'firewire|1394'

# Select the legacy firewire stack over the new CONFIG_FIREWIRE one.

#blacklist ohci1394
#blacklist sbp2
#blacklist dv1394
#blacklist raw1394
#blacklist video1394

#blacklist firewire-ohci
#blacklist firewire-sbp2

Can anyone throw some light on what is going wrong.

Just thought I would add - I have just successfully downloaded a heap of video off the camera using dvgrab. But it would be nicer to use the actual program itself. I see there have been a few views but no answers. Anyone?

Kdenlive runs 'dvgrab -i' to do its capture, so not sure why it does not work for you within Kdenlive.
