Hello all - any word the release of version 0.8? I have a project I'm about to start and was wondering about waiting for the next version, as I don't want to upgrade halfway through a project.
Middle of March has come and gone, so I wondered if it was imminent or the delay was more long term. |

Yes...
New target great would be great to know. As Apple proceeds forward with their continuing madness regards development tools, increase difficulty porting and general rudeness... Kdenlive w/AVID codec recent updates looks like a far better option than Mac + FCP. Having a 0.79 or 0.8 Kdenlive release before FCP 8 would be a great way to tack onto the FCP 8 release buzz as and MAC/FCP alternative. |

Yes, I'm wondering as well, because IRC is quiet, this website doesn't move... Did all Kdenlive developers suddenly disapear? Or are they so in a rush to end the 0.8 version that they are not even able to write anything else than code ? ;-)

Be patient guys, I think in the meantime you can use: https://launchpad.net/~sunab/+archive/kdenlive-svn
It's great. You know, this is free (and open source) software, we (me too) have to wait (im)patiently and be grateful of all the work this people do in their free time. I guess they have a primary job and a life too... Cheers!! |

Sorry about the delay.
Thing is currently all devs are busy with their non-Kdenlive live ;) and there are still some bugs waiting to be fixed before the release. So atm it is impossible for us to set a new release date. |

so maybe the removing the current wrong release date from the frontpage, or adding that the release is delayed, would make sense.

Thanks for the info, I've decided to kick off with the project then.
looking forward to using the next version when it comes out. |

Hatsch is right, it would be appropriate to notify the delay on the home page.
Anyway, thanks to all the developers who work hard for open source projects. |

Yeah I would love an approximate release date. I'm scheduled to do an Audio/Video Production in Linux presentation at LinuxFest NorthWest (http://linuxfestnorthwest.org) next week and I really wanted to show of Kdenlive 0.8. I'll be able to include Ardour3 (using their alpha4 release) in the presentation before it's released, but no new Kdenlive!
Please keep us updated about the progress. I've been excited about the new release...especially the Jack transport feature, new widgets, etc. Now I'm itching and scratching about it cause it was supposed to be released a month ago. Should I make a short film themed around my waiting for new Kdenlive with excitement and frustrations? That might get kinda surreal. Please let us know what's going on. I really hope nobody died.

In my Synaptic, i'm getting all kinds of updates for frei0r plugins, ffmpeg utility libraries, MIT runtime libraries, etc. These are really tickling me as I wait for the big 0.8 Kdenlive.

The lead developer who makes the releases has been uninvolved lately. I have no idea if there is a problem. Meanwhile, I have some other MLT-related projects to tend to. The other Kdenlive developers continue to work even if a little lighter than the previous 12 months.
P.S. JACK transport is not scheduled to be included in the next release. |

Yesss! I just checked my update manager and bam! I got 0.8 installed and I love the new audio spectrum, frei0r effects (15band EQ is new, eh?), light graffiti and everything. Working great so far. Thanks to the developers.
P.S. I'll wait on the JACK transport feature. That will be very exciting as well.

@Smeefer what you've got is a pre-release package of kdenlive. I made that to address the problems using mlt 0.7.0 and kdenlive 0.7.8.

I also wanted to add my thanks for the pre-release package Sunab! And many thanks to everyone else who has contributed thus far !
I installed it on a 64-bit openSUSE-11.3 using the version packaged by the openSUSE Packman packagers, and its nice. As you pointed out, it has fixed some problems with mlt and I really like the improvements ! |

@oldcpu: How did you get the upgrade? I run both Mac OSX Snow Leopard as well as openSUSE-11.4 (with Packman repository installed) and I couldn't get either to upgrade to 0.8. Obviously I'm missing something, but what? I am most interested in getting it on my 64-bit openSUSE-11.4 as that is my home machine.
Also, my thanks to all developers on this project. I am eagerly hanging in there for more! This is great stuff! |
