import VOB shorter than they are

Sun May 29, 2011 9:32 pm
Hi,
I start using Kdenlive today, but I have one prob:
I would import my VOB (from a minidvd) to made a big one and remaster more minidvd to one DVD.
When I import the VOB, it is shorter that the real. i.e. a 10 min movie, last just 20 sec in the time line (and also if I click play).
What can I try?

TIA

Can you open a terminal and type:

ffmpeg -i myclip.vob (replace with your clip name)

Then post the result here?

Did you mean this?

Re: import VOB shorter than they are

Mon May 30, 2011 10:12 am
Yes.

You can see that FFMpeg detects a duration of 12 seconds:

Duration: 00:00:12.07, start: 0.226767, bitrate: 290397 kb/s

So the problem is more on the FFMpeg side. Maybe something is broken in your file or your FFmpeg version has a bug, not sure.

You could try to transcode your clip to see if it fixes the problem:

ffmpeg -i myclip.vob -vcodec copy -acodec copy test.vob

Then try to see if test.vob works better

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it works!!!!!!!!!!!
after the transcode it works!
So what I can do now? The one that I've tried, it's on my HD. Can I try to transcode when I import it?

TIA

If you can access it like any ordinary file on the camera, sure, why not.
