I have 8 now running in Linux. The problems that began in 7.9 even appear to have gotten worse.

The CPU output is pegged at 100%. After closing Kdenlive there is still a process running that keeps it pegged.

The effects appear now difficult to control. Crop for instance I cannot get to work. I get an effects window with controls for top, left, right, bottom and some kinda auto center. All of these appear to run off the window to the right and I can't even read some (cannot resize to bring the effects controls into full view). I can't tell if there's a radio button to the far right that perhaps I cannot see. The controls are very buggy too. Sometimes they appear to do something (cropwise) but usually they don't ... and if they do there appears to be little consistency.

Whatever I had before 7.9 was working ok for my needs.... I could crop and control things. Now the program is just weird and sucks too much power. Is it hard to go to a previous version?

Here's an image of the problem with the effect controls. Does everybody see the controls like this.. or is something just broke here? Can't resize that Effect Stack window to show full controls.

Can't remember what "Center ba.." says nor Automatic... nor Use projec...
But I used to be able to make a letter boxed clip crop into "normal" (before 7.9) Now in 7.9 and 8 this appears to do nothing.

You may want to check if purging the thumbnails cache (thumbs/ directory) helps regarding the performance issue.

Effect stack: Usually you should be able to make the list field narrower, or if not, then at least the effect stack widget wider.

I'll check this purging of thumbnails cache... However, it pegs at 100% and can threatened something about system memory other day when first loading Kdenlive 8

I cannot make "the effect stack widget wider" .. the margin area where the controls are is absolutely static. This is why I want to find and use Kdenlive 7.8 or something prior. I had it working.. but 7.9 and 8 are keeping me from doing anything.

I guess I gotta give up on this. I've tried looking around here for some way to go back to 7.8 but can't find it. Anybody know how?

Aye thanks for link............ I doubt I want to bother with opening kdenlive 8.x again, since regardless of cpu being pegged I cannot get the program to behave, function as before with the whacked effects controls (screen grab above) being not visible in full (and buggy in operation).

I'd rather just go back if there's no fix for this. Course, there are a lot of files in that list (http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian/pool/main/k/kdenlive/) that appear associated with 0.7.8-1 and I don't know what to do with them all, which I need to download or how they are used in installation.

I'm in Mint 8 KDE which is Ubuntu based. Does one uninstall kdenlive and then try somehow to install it based on one of those files?
