Adding a clip to timeline

Thu Nov 03, 2011 12:46 pm
Hello,
I have 12 min clip, and the video file by itself is fine. But when i open Kdenlive and add the clip to the timeline and then click render, the result is always messed up ( the audio is fine, but video starts from about 1 min into the file ). Originally i was trying to add a title cad and stuff, but always got errors, it seems kdenlive cant even handle one video file in the timeline for me. Can anyone help?
Im using Kubuntu 11.10 with Kdenlive 0.8.1

What format is the video file? The file might have some kind of corruption, in which case, remuxing it in ffmpeg can help:

ffmpeg -i original.mpg -acodec copy -vcodec copy result.mpg

This will remux the original.mpg clip and create a new video clip called result.mpg that might work correctly in Kdenlive

Wow thanks j-b-m that seems to have fixed it, the original file was .ogv ( from gtk-record my desktop ), I did your commands but replaced all the mpg with ogv and re - rendered in kdenlive - seems ok now. If there is any more issues ill post back.

Thanks!
