Dear friends, I updated our Ubuntu package page with recent packages: http://www.kdenlive.org/user-manual/downloading-and-installing-kdenlive/pre-compiled-packages/ubuntu-packages Could you install these packages and report quality. In particular, I need:
If you previously installed Kdenlive using the wizard, please uninstall any FFMpeg, MLT and Kdenlive files in /usr/local. Thank you in advance.

It's ok for me too.
I removed, then reinstalled with the new packages baudm, and it's works very fine.
Updates also work well.
Great thanks for all this work on Kdenlive which become the best video-application on Linux !
Happy new year 2009 !!

@ikomurs Did you remove the files fro the installer wizard in /usr/local ... or any directory chosen? The installer wizard may conflict with packages. @river Can you test the sound of your desktop using other applications? To hear the sound, select 'Settings' menu, configuration->Playback. Choose Alsa or whatever is best suited for your computer. |

Sorry about the momentary breakage. I had to delete the mlt and mlt++ packages to be able to re-upload the *.orig.tar.gz from the last merge from Ubuntu. Also, please manually re-install mlt and related packages because the new package version numbers (-0ubuntu1~ppa?) are lower than the previous (-1~ppa?) (mistake in package version): sudo apt-get -y remove libmlt1 libmlt-data && sudo apt-get -y --force-yes install kdenlive |

As for sound issue, look into "Settings" menu and select your sound driver and sound card:

Can you open a bug? When you play the video in Kdenlive, does it stutter? If it is the case, Kdenlive may need to set a higher audio latency when playing files. I have this problem on my laptop, audio is always stutering. I am going to open a bug myself about this issue. |

Try apt-get install esound. Then remove pulseaudio packages. Please note that you can also use a pulseaudio pluging for Alsa, as described here: http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup I don't know Pulseaudio and cannot help you more. If you still don't hear sound in Kdenlive, the best is to ask for help on an Ubuntu forum where people know Pulseaudio. |

I believe you can disable PulseAudio temporarily by unchecking it in the GNOME Session manager under Preferences. Then, you need to logout and login, or maybe reboot to be more confident the daemon is not left running when you logout.

I did a new install of kdenlive for Intepid following the instructions and the program crashes every time I try to add an .avi clip, but works fine with .dv clips. Is there something else I need to install to work with .avi?

If you previously tried compiling from sources or the wizard, make sure you uninstall everything, mostly in /usr/local. This local directory takes precedence on packages in /usr/ thus leading to unrecoverable errors, not very easy to detect. |

I have just tried Kdenlive 0.7.1 on Kubuntu 8.10 amd64 kernel 2.6.29.9 and I have seen an important improvement over version 0.7.0 (on Mandriva 2009.0). I have seen rendering menu is more user friendly, including more options to choose. Interlaced DVD rendering has also improved although is not still perfect (I can still see some horizontal lines and some blocking in high contrast areas). The program runs stable and I welcome its translation into Spanish. Capture monitor has improved as well although It do not run as smoothly as I wish. I have not seen any problems with audio (as far as I know Pulseaudio is not installed yet as default in Kubuntu). I have had problems with pulseaudio too in Mandriva 2009 and Ubuntu 8.10 (I think it is a problem probably connected with the specific chip implement on my Dell hardware). Keep doing such a good job! regards

Kdenlive 0.7.1? Could you open a bug to pass options to dvgrab, please? For transitions, make sure you do not share a system with compiled by hand MLT and packages. Was you system clean before installing packages? If there are some ramainings of installed libraries in /usr/local, you may experience problems. |
