I would like to know how to benchmark VDPAU decoding in MLT and Kdenlive.

Would it be possible for kdenlive to display whether VDPAU is installed and working?
Then would it be possible to download a file from Kdenlive and benchmark decoding in Kdenlive interface?
This would give users information about the speed of their computer.
