Crashing on 2 pass H.264

Thu May 07, 2009 1:34 pm

Hello,

My renders always crash on H.264 2 pass.

It doesn't give me any messages, except that the Current Jobs window says Rendering Crashed, and I get a 48 byte MP4 file.

H.264 1 pass works fine.

How could I try to track it down?

Thanks

Eduardo

Same crash happens to me on 2 pass H.264 rendering, haven't tried 1 pass yet. Every other codec renders correctly. Sorry for my english. I'll let you know if 1 pass H.264 renders fine.

Thanks,

Ignazio

Run kdenlive from a command line. Maybe the console messages will reveal something.

Are there any spaces in the path leading to folder where the file is rendered? I am not aware of any problem there, but just maybe.

Hi everybody,

I've got the same problem, with ubuntu jaunty and with Kdenlive Version 0.7.3 Using KDE 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2).

1 pass is ok for H.264, but rendering crashing for 2 pass (at the end of the 2nd pass) and create a 48bytes file.

Not useful info with terminal...

Started render process: "/usr/bin/inigo" "/tmp/kde-pepe/kdenliveH20616.westley -profile /home/pepe/.kde/share/apps/kdenlive/profiles//customprofile0 -consumer avformat:/the_path/h264_12000k2pass.mp4 progress=1 f=mp4 hq=1 acodec=libfaac ab=384k ar=48000 pix_fmt=yuv420p vcodec=libx264 minrate=0 b=12000k b_strategy=1 subcmp=2 cmp=2 coder=1 flags=+loop flags2=dct8x8 qmax=51 crf=1 trellis=1 aspect=@4/3 pass=2 s=640x480"
Rendering of "/the_path/h264_12000k2pass.mp4" aborted, resulting video will probably be corrupted.

Anyone has resolved this problem ?

Note : With using vimeo 640x480 2 pass, there isn't problem (f=mp4 acodec=libfaac ab=128k ar=44100 vcodec=libx264 minrate=0 b=3000k s=640x480 aspect=%dar mbd=2 trellis=1 mv4=1 pass=2).

So maybe we can think that there is two possibilities of this error :
- something is missing in our OS in order to use H264 with 2 pass ;
- there is an incompatibility in this with pass=2 : f=mp4 hq=1 acodec=libfaac ab=384k ar=48000 pix_fmt=yuv420p vcodec=libx264 minrate=0 b=12000k b_strategy=1 subcmp=2 cmp=2 coder=1 flags=+loop flags2=dct8x8 qmax=51 crf=1 trellis=1 aspect=%dar pass=2

Is there someone who can use for rendering H.264 > H264 xxxk 2 pass ?

Thanks for your replies :)

Just to chime in - same problem here, with 0.7.3, Jaunty 64.

For that matter, if I render to one-pass h264 the file doesn't really play right in smplayer, the player stops and will actually lock up, while h264 from other sources plays fine. I am almost exclusively working with 1080p30 from AVCHD, Canon HF100.

This bug is fixed in kdenlive svn.

If you do/can not update, then create a custom profile from the one you want, and remove "crf=1".

Thanks, removing crf=1 works perfectly :)
