Hello,
Sorry if my question is too dumb.... I'm totally new in using Kdenlive and video-editing software. I have a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD106 - which uses mini-DVD's. It has a USB-connection (no firewire)... I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 and Kdenlive 0.7.6. My problem is: HOW on earth do I access my video-clips I've recorded - from my Sony Handycam? |

Does it mount as a storage volume so you can copy the files off of it? How about if you put the DVD disc into your DVD drive?

Okay.... you led med to the right direction :-) ... I had to "Finalize" the DVD-disc in the videocamera first.... then it showed oup as an DVD-drive.
But.. the filetype on the disc was NOT recognized by Kdenlive. It was a huge 1.2 Gb file with ".VRO" extension; lucilly I had a program to convert the file to a ".mpg" videofile. Now I can load the videofile into Kdenlive :-). Thank's for your help! -koda |

I have only just joined so this is a bit late.
I copied my .VRO file from my DVD-RAM disk to hard drive then clicked Project/add clips and the file loaded and I was able to edit it. I have not tried the output yet because I'm still learning. Regards John Debian 5 Kdenlive 0.6.0 Does not appear to work with multiple recordings only sees the first one, this would be more likely on a cam with several small clips. I have used a program called vrosplit to separate them and then they can be edited. I have also had a problem where the video has been edited with the the original equipment before transferring to a computer. |
