Hi there The text clip functionality is a bit limited in kdenlive, so I have made some titles in synfig (a 2D animation program). They are made with a transparent background, because I want to import them in kdenlive on top of an existing sequence. But, I can not figure out the best way to add these clips to a kdenlive project, such that they overlay an existing clip. I have the option of exporting from synfig in a number of formats - so far I have choosen png files (lots). I reckon I _could_ export an existing clip from kdenlive as pngs, overlay in the CLI, and reimport them - but thats sort of a long road. Any ideas, anyone? Regards Mads |

PNG's have transparency, so couldn't you just import all the png's from Synfig as a clip in Kdenlive over the top of your footage? |

I had problems with the resolution, and also, Kdenlive kept adding a black background. If I handedited the .kdenlive file, I could make it go away. I am stuck with the KDE3 version for about two weeks more, then I will be able to migrate to 4.1. |

I am stuck with the KDE3 version Ironic really! Well thanks for letting *me* use Kdenlive KDE4! :D Quote:
Kdenlive kept adding a black background. Seems to work OK in v0.7 (KDE4). I just imported a png with transparency into a title layer and it looks fine there. Render doesn't seem to work yet (the "start" button on the render dialog does nothing) so I can't say how the final result is, but so far so good. |

Yeah. I'll be able to upgrade in about two weeks time.... I am on a satelite connection at the moment, and I am really not going to do a dist-upgrade on that kind of connection. :-)

Sounds good. If you get tired of the limited functionality of the titles in Kdenlive (assuming they are somewhat like the Kde3 version), you may want to check out some notes on doing titles (or other animations) in synfig: http://madsdyd.wordpress.com/2008/08/14/how-to-use-synfig-for-titles-in-kdenlive/ |

to render some-kind-of-mpeg file from your project. Note, that the magic of inigo and passing parameters to ffmpeg is currently beyond me, but I am able to get very good DVD results from my DV footage - even using Kde3. You can pass all kinds of weird parameters to ffmpeg - this is voodoo to me and has taken a lot of experimenting, but it does actually work. Of course, this is only until it is fixed in kdenlive, so its just for playing around. |
