First an apology, I am not at all a coder I am a project leader the other side of the screens! We have now set up our own linux training space on our studio web site and are working to convert everyone over to kdenlive. I am very conscious that I may be asking bloody stupid questions the answers to which I can get elsewhere so please bear with my learning curve. I opened kdenlive and went to capture monitor. On the bottom of the screen was the red text saying that I had to install dvgrab or ffplay before the monitor would work. I went to Yast software management and installed dvgrab. I returned to the capture monitor and found the red text still there. Obviously I have rebooted and all that I can think of. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful. Jack. |

Jack, it's a good question. You probably need to look around in the configuration dialogues to tell kdenlive where the dvgrab application is. You can find out by typing jack@pebble:~>which dvgrab into a terminal and it will tell you the location, for example, /usr/bin/dvgrab |

hi, please check your dvgrab version (dvgrab -v) since kdenlive need at least > 2.x iirc. greetings ) Always using latest svn versions of mlt, mlt++ and kdenlive (ubuntu). |

Having now got the capture working thanks to all your support guys, I find that I am having a problem which may be a codec issue but I have just realised could be that kdenlive is set to NTSC. If you have a peek at the link below you will find an image of what the captures look like and my observations on it. Many Thanks again, HRTV will be based on kdenlive even if it takes until I am 150 years old (boy will that be a party). Jack. |

When you play the captured files, do you see the same problem or is the problem only visible in the capture monitor ? Does the problem also appear with dvgrab capture files ? regards |

no, the capture is messed up as well (hence the image on the link) so that is why I am thinking codec. I will try your other advice tomorrow but I have to get to the pub now as I have been on these dam screens since 11 this morning. Thanks. Jack. |
