I simply open this topic because I didn't find the answer on the kdenlive forum, and googling the web often give wrong answers :-)

On kdenlive 0.8.2.1 (and may be also before), to get a crossfade, one have to:

* place the two clips on two tracks, one under the other.
* make the two tracks overlap
* make the mouse pointer hover around the lower right corner of the upper clip. A color flash shows and clicking insert dissolve.
