Some visual issues

Sun Dec 06, 2009 7:09 pm
Hi everyone,

I have a couple of issues that I would like some feedback on. This because I'm wondering if maybe I have some wrong settings or wrong understanding of how Kdenlive 0.7.6 works. And otherwise to gather some information for a feature request or bugreport perhaps.

FYI, I'm using Kdenlive SVN version.

-

Issue #1 - Inactive project/clip monitor gets grey areas
It's not a bug but it's not very pretty - move a window over one of these and it works like an eraser. Is this normal or can I adjust my video settings to avoid this?

-

Issue #2 - Messy project tree
Icons that should be the same size look like they are randomly sized in the project tree. All the video files in the provided screenshot are captured from the same tape/camera with Kdenlive and have the same resolution. And look at the audio icons, too. Anyone know how/why this is?

edit: Haven't found out why in this project the thumbs looked so irregular, but the solution is quite simple. Remove the thumbnail pictures from your kdenlive dir (example ~/kdenlive/thumbs) and reopen your project.

edit 2: The even more elegant solution; Go to Project > Project Settings > Project Settings, here you can clear the 'Thumbnails Cache'.

Edit 3: This happened again on another project! The bughunt is still on.

Issue #3 - In/Out Zone doesn't update realtime
Possibly related to issue #1? Changing in or out point on the timeline doesn't become visible until I zoom in/out or move the timeline cursor or open a different program and then return to the Kdenlive window. This can lead to confusing situations like the one in the screenshot, where there are 2 in points.

edit: This issue seems to have been solved. Don't know how though :)

-

Issue #4 - The error message
Look at the screenshot - whenever I see something like this I know what to do. Save everything and get the hell out of Kdenlive! Best case scenario I've found is the loss of my last action (and hopefully another bug nailed down!). Worst case scenario is me not noticing the error in time and a bunch of clips being moved or deleted. Are your encounters with the error message the same? Do you think the error message should be more visible and give advise to restart Kdenlive?
