I really did it this time... KDenLive (video editor) couldn't handle video with any effects. Assuming that the driver selection was causing this, I selected the second or third video driver option in KDenLive's video driver list. Now, when I start the application, my entire screen goes black and doesn't come back. Here's a screenshot, if it helps: My only escape is to ctrl+Backspace to get out and log back in. Once I log off, I can see my screen again. When I log back in I can see everything again, but if I open up KDenLive again, I lose everything and the process starts over. I guess at this point, I just want to be able to put KDenLive's default settings back without going back into the program. By the way, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it seems to remember my screw up, so that didn't fix it. Help is on the way, I can feel it... |

Just in case anyone looks, here the answer, now that I figured it out. Turn off restricted drivers, reboot, open KDenLive and you can see it! Phew! |
