Hi, I'm having a hard time to get kdenlive to work because only thing I always get are a dozen of crashes. I'm using Debian Etch and since the default packaged version 0.4.0 lacks a lot of functions and x264 support I was trying to kick on a backported svn version dated to 08/04/30. Installation went fine however I wasn't able to progress a single step in creating a movie since everything i tried to do in kdenlive led into a crash. So I've got an installation script from this forum and installed everithing from current svn revs. Again everything went pretty fine except a bunch of warnings (well kdenlive isn't really an example of a clean code) but the result is nearly the same. I've never seen running kdenlive for more than a minute, I can add a clip but it still occassionally crashes on any action and a saved project file cannot be opened again because of another crash just upon loading. Kdenlive looked promising to me but it does not anymore - functions without stability aren't more than just useless pack of code and "crashnlive" is likely to be a new codename soon. :| This is my backtrace after an attempt opening a saved project with a single video file and a single mp3. Full strace output attached. Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". |

I have had major audio thumbnail issues, which have yet to be resolved. So I posted them here. I want to use kdenlive to do video editing, as I think it is the best bet for a FOSS video editor right now. However, both of us have issues, and both of us are just trying to figure out what is going on. I see no problem with that. It is people like us that make a project better, even if we can't code, by identifying problems so the actual coders can better figure out solutions. Didn't your mom tell you not to say anything if you didn't have anything nice to say? Lyon, sorry I can't help on this one. I'd say try and find .5 and see if that works. |
