Hey,
I have been following the progress of AVCHD in kdenlive over the last two years. So far it has not been usable for me. I have a Macbook 2,1 with an Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2Ghz with 2GB RAM (running Linux). Under Linux nothing worked s far, so I've been forced to use Mac OS X products, which has been a nightmare due to all the time that is spent converting stuff to their internal format and the products somehow "forgetting" about where it put files, etc. Now the Macbook is falling apart and I am figuring out what to get next. As part of that decision process I've updated kdenlive with all its dependencies to the newest versions, and suddenly, oh wonder, ffplay can play the footage of my Canon HF S11 in at least close to real time! It can even do seeking pretty good, almost without artifacts. When importing it into kdenlive it can also play very well, but if I drag it onto the time line, cut it into three pieces and put them back together in a different order and try to play that, kdenlive simply refuses to do anything. It just acts as if I never clicked the play button and outputs lots "link XMLID_13_ hasn't been detected!" in the console. I don't know if it's a speed issue or if it's just a bug. But so I'm curious: is there actually a notebook out there that is fast enough to actually be able to handle AVCHD editing with Kdenlive? If so, what are the minimum specifications? Or are there any god offers for such notebooks anywhere to be had? |

hi,
i have a laptop with c2d 2,4ghz and i prefer convert to AVCHD to mpeg2, or dnxhd but files are very big (in dnxhd) and my hdd is not fast enough with multitracks .. In mpeg2 no problem with kdenlive ... The conversion is easy with ffmpeg and the quality is quite the same for my eyes ... a+ |
