Hi, its the first time to be here in this forum. I am not at all technical. So I hope you can give an answer in very simple technical words. I have some old VHS-videotapes, but they are very valueable for me. I want them to record on my computer and next burn them on a DVD. I have installed Kdenlive. In my computer I have a Hauppauge TVWin-card, analog tv by connecting a coaxcable. I use the program TVtime in Ubuntu Hardy Heron 64bit for watching television. I succeeded in seeing a videotape on my computer by connecting the VHS-videorecorder to the TV-card, also with the program TVtime. How can I record the videotapes on my harddisk ? When this problem is solved, it is probably not so difficult to burn a DVD. |

Using kdenlive, you should be able to use the "Video 4 Linux" option in the "Capture monitor". Note the configuration options. Alternatively: try this approach: http://forum.videohelp.com/topic307679.html Regards Mads |

Thank you Mads, I succeed in recording by using the link http://forum.videohelp.com/topic307679.html Now I am trying to record them on a DVD. The file has audio-extension MPEG1 and video-extension MPEG2. How can I do that ? |

A couple of options for you. Check in the repo's for your current distro to see if they're there first. If you're not on a debian based system (eg Kubuntu, Ubuntu, Debian etc) you can likely find them elsewhere: KmediaFactory* * In current Kubuntu Intrepid repositories. |

You can simply use Kdenlive 0.7.4 which includes a DVD export tool.
