I've been using Kdenlive for a while now and I haven't used the green strip above and to the left of the timeline at all. What is that for? I know if I put my mouse over it, it gives me the zone duration and start and end points of the zone. It can also be made larger and/or smaller. What do I do with it? I can't find it in the documentation.
Thanks, Waynevid Kdenlive 0.7.8 |

if when you go to the render dialog you check selected zone instead of full project then it only renders the bit the zone indicates.

It does not seem as precise as using the markers; the markers can snap. I guess one could use it to find out how long the zone is. Any other uses? Does anyone use this green strip?

I use it all the time!
Mostly I use the 'Set Zone In/Go to Zone start' and 'Set Zone Out/Go to Zone end' options and shortcuts as quick markers. Also there are the options 'Play Zone' and 'Loop Zone' which speak for themselves. And check out the 'Insert Clip Zone in Timeline (Overwrite)' function. As mentioned before it's real handy to be able to export only a part of your timeline, and when the Insert Mode gets operational the Zone area will come in handy too. Almost forgot the option 'Insert Zone in Project Tree'... save multiple zones from 1 clip directly in the Project Tree. |

Sounds like a good subject for a video tutorial. Are there any reasons why these commands are not in a right mouse button context menu?
