is there a clip segement list?

Tue Aug 25, 2009 2:04 pm
Hi,

I'd like to know if there is a clip segment list of some sort in kdenlive?
For example I have a clip , I cut it in different segments that I put in a list with the ability to rename (ex. "segement_name1 wideshot", "segment_name2 closeup", etc) and reorder them, and then from that list i drop the segments i want on the timeline.

Is it possible to do something like this?

thanx

Hi Rico. I see a benefit of being able to give clips a name. A search text input with a dropbox near the timeline would certainly be useful in big movies. But I don't see a benefit for reordering, since clips are ordered directly in the timeline and cannot be elsewhere.

Regards.

You could reorder them by for example a group of segments that you might use for a scene.
Lets say you might use for scene "A" 4-5 segments out of 10, you could group together this 10 segments by reordering so it'll be easyer to find them and then combine them on the timeline for your final shot. So you dont have everything thrown directly on the time line which could be a bit confusing if you have a lot of clips/segements.
I could see an extra tab for the segments, Like you have 1 for the full clips (like now), you cut your clips into segments that you put in the segments tab and finally you can drag&drop the ones you really want to use on the time line. I think this would help organising things.
