If yes, how do I use the builder?

If no, what do I need to do?

Did you try the Ubuntu packages?

The builder works on Kubuntu 8.1 but I found the resulting instalation to be unstable.

Dragging a clip to different track crashed Kdenlive.

I have installed using these instructions, and it shows up in the menu.

http://kdenlive.org/user-manual/downloading-and-installing-kdenlive/pre-compiled-packages/ubuntu-packages

I would like to edit under Gnome but the last time I ran a qt package under Gnome, my Gnome interface went a bit KDE.

all the best

yep, works fine for me with ubuntu 8.10.

Just download the builder, untar the builder, run the binary and finally you will be prompted in case some dependencies are missing (there is a log file to look what is missing).

greetings )

Always using latest svn versions of mlt, mlt++ and kdenlive (ubuntu).

mads is validating Ubuntu packages. I am taking care of SuSE, Mandriva and other distributions. We will validate packages quickly, so that packages become the recommended solution to install Kdenlive. Stay tuned.

I have installed and tried:

1.  deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/baudm/ubuntu intrepid main

2.  0.7 via Gnome/Ubuntu update a couple of days ago.

Both installed ok, but failed to output video for an mpeg-4-part-2 AVI when rendering. Mads is aware of this problem and asked if I could build from source as he has put tracing code in that might shed light on the problem. I am willing to help, so my question is 'how to build kdenlive from latest source'? As an old Windowser relatively new to Linux, I am not too hot on using the command line. Step by step instructions for firing up kdenlive builder wizard would be appreciated.

Please check the builder homepage at http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Kdenlive+Builder+Wizard?content=85826

There are actually quite wordy instructions.

And, of course, I am willing to help you out, if the instructions are not enough.

Regards

Mads
