I'm using Mandriva 2009 and can do a dvgrab and capture video and audio from my Panasonic NV-GS400 video camera using firewire okay. However, when I try to do the same in Kdenlive, when I click on the Connect button, it shows as initialising, I then get a black display in the viewer window followed by a "not connected message". Using kdenlive (distribution version 0.6.0 I think?) on Kubuntu 8.10 on the same PC works okay. I would love to add my camera to teh list of supported cameras, but at present I'm holding off. Any ideas?

I noticed that I sometimes had to click twice on the connect button. Can you click twice and get back to us? Maybe we should open a bug about this disconnection. |

I've clicked four times in a row, same problem. I've also restarted the PC (just in case). I can tell that it is trying to access the camera as I can hear the tape heads engaging and then disengaging. |

I've now managed to sort it! Mandriva 2009 decided not to play nicely with Compiz and X just became a black screen, so decided to re-install this time using proprietary ATI drivers. As it was a wipe and start again, when I reinstalled Kdenlive I noticed there was a more recent snapshot taken in October, rather than September so I used this one instead. Anyway, the upshot is that I can now capture sound and video in 0.7.0. Thanks to everyone who tried to help. Problem resolved! |
