cpu usage always reach 100% ( after launch, no other operation) , is it normal? svn version is same. that's strange, cinelerra or mainactor doesn't have this problem. these later two only get 100% cpu usage when doing effects work. generally cpu is idle. |

oh, exactly, i have this letter blinking problem too.
that's really strange. btw, even after i import some videos, cpu usage is still in 100%, lucky enough i'm in a dualcore machine, so i still can do something. |

alsa, also tried the default/oss, seems all works with my vl42 device(alsa will make kdenlive complain about not found v4l device, sometimes). now i found something, not a real solution. 1).after launch kdenlive , cpu rush to 100%, then i open the configuration windows of kdenlive, cpu will drop to 0% immediately. if i close this window, back to the main ui, cpu will most likely come to 100% again. 2).then i close all the windows except timeline (maybe plus project window), after that, cpu will be back to 0%. for debug purpose, i reopen those closed windows one by one, and as time pass by , cpu maybe become normal, at 0%, and the whole interface is working as expected, also the blinking text problems (often happened under the project window, the underline of character "O") disappear.
but 2) can't be repeated in a logic way, sometimes it works, sometimes not.

On my AthlonXP 3200 processor (ati radeon9800 videocard) just running kdenlive as an active window uses up to 20% cpu. Moving the mouse really fast over the window I've been able to get 55-60% cpu usage - the same as just playing a clip! Problem for me comes when I add transitions to other clips, then cpu usage reaches 100% and audio starts stuttering I don't know if I should file a bug report or just put up until I upgrade my hardware. Most frustrating is that like 1 out of 20 times this doesn't happen. Haven't been able to track down why unfortunately - different codecs won't make a difference, nor does the window manager (not even twm!) or how many processes are running in the background. Even with the project window not activated this happens.
Anyway a bug was filed for audiostutter and cpu usage so maybe the almighty developers get around to some of these things
