I work with KDEnlive sice de 0.5 version teaching Cultural Groups called Pontos de Cultura to edit videos using free softwares, and KDEnlive is the best software to do this work. Thanks for this great software.

I want to know if KDEnlive have keyboard short cuts, like to set in and out points and things like that.

I want to know either if KDEnlive work with layers.

I had also some problems to work with transparenses, I would like to use some luma transitions on credits but it only accepts composite.

you should check the "Settings > Configure shortcuts" menu; you could also have a look and, maybe, contribute on this issue: http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=471

unfortunately i can't answer other two questions, i'm on windows at the moment, and... what do you mean for layers?

you can use tracks as layers then, mixing them with the composite (and others too) transition: they're pretty much the same thing
