Hi

I have an install of Kdenlive 0.72 from the PPA repo running on Ubuntu 8.10.

I am getting lost of crashes, and odd problems, eg

  • video clips that i cant move on the timeline,

  • video clips taht move somewhere else on the timeline.

  • When a clip is shown, the Project Monitor' sometimes doesnt see it, and wont play some clips that were ok before

Originally, I installed the src version of the 0.7 branch, but I have cleansed it from my system ok, as far as I know.

I can't believe that Kdenlive can be this buggy, and be used by others. Its driving me nuts !

Please can anyone tell me if you get problems such as this, or is my install wrong somewhere ?

sorry for replying to my own post.

I *think* that the file i was editing had been edited by me, uisng the buggy 0.71 version. It seems, that any corruption created when using 0.7.1 stays with the file, ie uisng 0.7.2 doesnt make the file itself any better.

I had to go back, and use a slighly earlier version. With this file, so far, so good.

But its a warning of the problems with using the 0.7.1 version ...

Make sure you install a recent version of FFmpeg. Mpeg2-ts handling was heavily fixed.

If you are working with Mpeg2/4 or AVCHD files, use a January FFmpeg snapshot. Debian packages are provided and upgraded every 2 weeks approx. With a 15 nov snapshot you will not die either.
