Hi,

I'm new to Kdenlive and I try to connect a new Panasonic HDC-SD9 camera to Ubuntu 8.10. I followed patch and instructions here (http://www.kdenlive.org/video-editor/panasonic-hdc-sd9) but not succeed (cause dev version of libx256).

I tried to use last SVN version off FFmpeg followind tutorial here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=786095) without success too.

In acquisition configuration, there is only firewire connection and HDC-SD9 camera does not have one, just USB connection. Is it possible to configure USB acquisition?

Is there anybody here who could help me to do it?

Many thanks in advance.

Enzo

Aren't you able to take out the SD memory card, and insert into a card reader attached to your pc? That should be the absolutely easiest way to get access. In fact, I think that is the only way to get it. It is in fact easier than using firewire. Just take out the card, pop it into your usb reader, and a window should open on your desktop with the cards contents. Copy the relevant .mts files to a directory of your choice, and start editing. (Not?)

Alternatively, you might be able to mount the sd card over usb, but it seems like a hassle to me, compared to getting a €10 usb card reader :-)

...

Just downloaded the 17 MB manual. Looking at it, you probably need to follow the instructions on page 103. Bascially, any modern distro (like *ubuntu 8.04 and forward) should automatically mount your camera after you have pressed the [PC connect] button.

The layout of the data files is page 104 - you would be interessted in the files in the BDMV directory.

I still think the usb card reader is the easiest way :-)

Waaaoooohhh! Thank you very much.

You're right, SD Card was automagicaly mounted when  "PC Connect" is pressed. I saw it but was thinking it was unusable.

.MTS files are recognized directly in clip import.

Wonderful!

Thanks again
