where are the curves? the X-Y-Z and alpha/opacity curves?

I have a little problem... i am trying to fade a title clip and a video clip... the problem is that there is no alpha/opacity curves in the time line and there is no "fade to alpha" effect... and the "compose" and "luma" effects can not be on the same track?

how the hell do i detach the compositor window?
