I'm currently working on an audio file in audacity that I have already imported and arranged in Kdenlive's timeline.

I simply need to reload the clip in Kdenlive after I export a new copy from audacity. Unfortunately, right clicking the clip in the clip window and choosing 'reload clip' doesn't seem to do anything...?

If I close Kdenlive and reopen it the audio clip is updated with my new changes as expected.

Is there a way to reload the clip within Kdenlive without having to restart Kdenlive?

You are right, that was a bug. I just fixed the problem in current svn (revision 3534).
