Hi folks,
From a Panasonic SDR-SW 20 I got some .mod files on an SD card. They were recorded 16:9 but will show somewhat distorted in 4:3 (and with two black beams left and right). How can I tell Kdenlive that these are 16:9 files? The project template is DV/DVD in 16:9. Thanks! Rolf |

In the Advanced tab of the Clip Properties, try setting the aspect ratio to 1.19.

Didn't help. Now, here are two screenshots:
Anyway, as you can see, the aspect ratio of the clips turns out to be 704x576, not 720x576. Setting to 1.19 doesn't do anything at first. Later, the black stripes become smaller, but the aspect is still wrong. After watching some clips, the preview refuses completely. I had to restart kdenlive. Oh, I see, it's kdenlive 0.7.4, do you think this has something to do with it? Rolf |

Let me add one thing:
In order to show these clips from the camera on TV correctly, I have to set the TV to 4:3 and then zoom up the picture to show as 16:9. Now I know why :-) In fact, I just tried it again, the TV will cut something upstairs and downstairs if I zoom up enough to avoid black curtains. In order to show the whole picture, I will have to leave a small curtain right and left. But I have to switch to 4:3, if I choose 16:9, the picture will be pressed vertically and show black stripes horizontally. Rolf |

Sorry, I assumed they were 720x480 because a web search on that cam led me to think it was NTSC. Try 1.45 or 1.46.
