When will Pan and Zoom be functional?
When will vignette be functional? Any reason that the effects that do not work are not blacklisted? Currently using Sunab2, Ubuntu 9.10, 64bit. |

Not so for me.
New project. Add color clip. Place it on timeline. Add vignette. No controls have any effect, either when using them OR in the resulting .kdenlive file. The attached .kdenlive file had all the controls in the gui tweaked, but the xml remains the same. The gui isn't ever attached to the effect. kdenlive_0.7.6+svn4139-0ubuntu0~karmic1_amd64.deb kdenlive-data_0.7.6+svn4139-0ubuntu0~karmic1_all.deb libmlt1_0.4.7+git20091121-0ubuntu0~karmic1_amd64.deb libmlt++2_0.4.7+git20091121-0ubuntu0~karmic1_amd64.deb melt_0.4.7+git20091106-0ubuntu0~karmic1_amd64.deb frei0r-plugins_1.1.22git20090409+repack-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb ffmpeg_4%3a0.5+svn20090706-2ubuntu2_amd64.deb Does it have anything to do with /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdenlive/blacklisted_effects.txt? What do I need to do? |

the last two lines of /usr/share/mlt/oldfilm/filter_vignette.yml appear inconsistant with each other.
format: %d:%d:%dx%d:%d default: 80:50%:50%:50%:0 if the format line is correct, shouldn't the default be 80:50:50x50:0 ? I'm guessing the format line is incorrect. |

if I edit my .kdenlive and change the geometry to like '0,0:720x480:7;16=0,0:720x480:59;30=0,0:720x480:96;38=0,0:720x480:0' I can then see the effect works when I restart and playback, but the effect doesn't show up in kdenlive editor.

OK, I reproduced the problem in Vignette. Pan and Zoom works for me, but opacity is exposed when it is not supported - that is currently a limitation of this generic widget. Also, it may not behave as you expect when combined with Composite transition. You are better off using the Composite controls and the Crop filter instead of Pan and Zoom.

Thanks. Please post back when vignette is fixed.

The problem with vignette is that it abuses the geometry parameter type of MLT in an attempt to utilize keyframable parameters. To make matters worse, it assumes the fields of the geometry specification are percentages, but these things do not at all work with Kdenlive's UI. For example, where the geometry widget normally supplies X,Y:WxH in pixel values, the filter expects Smooth,Radius%,center-x%,center-y%,max-opacity. If one tries to make a Kdenlive Effects GUI XML file for this effect, nothing can instruct Kdenlive how to compose a valid geometry value from individual parameters. I must talk to the original author of the filter about completely changing his parameters.

should work now with latest version of mlt/kdenlive (svn/git)
the format has changed now from geometry values to single, keyframeable paramaters. so you need to adapt your project files too. |

Thanks. I'll try them later this week from svn/git, unless there is any way to get sunab to push the new version.

-> g.marco: I have tried latest using instructions from the message: HOWTO: Install kdenlive, melt, faad, faac, x264, theora, ffmpeg on Ubuntu Karmic 9.10
however this does not give me the latest. Could you please point me in the right direction? Ignore, my bad. just have compile errors on kdenlive |

Thanks.
Vignette now works great, I do however wish that it could sync the monitor with the changes one makes in real time. Pan and Zoom, I had imagined would be keyframable. I guess we'll have to wait on that one. |
