This is on a clean install of 9.04.

I'm getting an error in Synaptic every time I ask it to reload. I followed these directions

Although I don't add repos every day and not really sure I understand keys and all the rest of it I'm pretty sure I got it right. Kdenlive shows up where it's supposed to and appears to be working. But this error message is really bugging me. I ran Synaptic just before following the kdenlive instructions without errors so it's related to the new entry in Software Sources.

I can't see your error message picture on Ubuntu forums, because I'm not registered there. But if I guess it right, you need to read this: https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/PPA#Installing%20software%20from%20a%20PPA

Sunab key can be found here: https://launchpad.net/~sunab/+archive/ppa ("Signing key" and then "AA836CA8")

Edit: Ok, I see you probably already knew this. Anyways, those work fine for me.

I'm back home now, behind our gawdawful dial-up connection. Anything more than checking email and very light web surfing gets done at the library. I probably screwed up and either forgot to enter the key or did it wrong. Library's closed now, will try again in a few days and see what happens. I might be starting to understand how the keys and PPA sites work together...

We will ask the maintainer if is possible to add the keys to a Debian package.

Anyway, the kdenlive link in my original post doesn't even mention the key so I never put it in. Not knowing much about adding sources and keys, I didn't realize that there had to be more. I pasted the appropriate part below.

Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 (supported using sunab repositories)

Kdenlive 0.7.3 packages are available at http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/kdenlive. DO NOT USE THEM, NO SUPPORT PROVIDED!
This version of Kdenlive is deprecated. It is strongly recommended to install Kdenlive 0.7.5 packages using sunab alternative repositories:

1. go to System Menu > Software Sources > Third-Party Software;
2. click add and paste this line in:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/sunab/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main;
3. close software source and click reload.

Then click the reload button and install Kdenlive package or type the following command line:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kdenlive.

Please report the quality of these packages here.

If it hadn't been for fuli's link I would have been lost. With his link I got the second line to add to Software Sources, and installed the key. Error messages gone now. Thanks for everyone's help and patience!
