I installed Kdenlive 0.7.5 on my Athlon64 machine (2.2 GHz, 3GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 5200 FX), running Ubuntu Intrepid (8.10).
To install, I followed the instructions on this page: http://www.kdenlive.org/user-manual/downloading-and-installing-kdenlive/pre-compiled-packages/ubuntu-packages I do the following: 1. Launch Kdenlive 2. Add a one-hour DV clip on the Project Tree 3. Drag the DV clip onto the Time Line 4. Till here, all goes well. However, the moment I try to play the clip on the Clip Monitor, Kdenlive crashes. The KDE Crash Handler says "A Fatal Error Occurred. The application Kdenlive (kdenlive) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV)." When I click on 'Show Details', it says "This backtrace appears to be of no use. This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in the crash." (I would like to mention that I can successfully create and play a title clip.) What can I do to solve or help to debug this? Thanks. -- Hassath |

How difficult would it be for you to upgrade to Kdenlive 0.9.4 and MLT 0.8.8? Kdenlive has gone through a lot of improvements and bug fixes since 0.7.4...
