Hi,

I use Kdenlive 0.7.5 and have many crashes (selecting a effect or a clip in the tree view, adding a track, ...).
As I read it is important to have the right MLT version I want to check it.
In synaptic installed package are (Xubuntu 9.04):

libmlt++2
libmlt-data
libmlt1

I was wondering if libmlt1 is correct.
All version 0.4.5+gilt20090830-0ubuntu0~ppa1

Do you see a problem with this?

EDIT: I have this error in the terminal when it crashes:
I: caps.c: Limited capabilities successfully to CAP_SYS_NICE.
I: caps.c: Dropping root privileges.
I: caps.c: Limited capabilities successfully to CAP_SYS_NICE.
KCrash: Application 'kdenlive' crashing...
sock_file=/home/thomas/.kde/socket-NB01-HN/kdeinit4__0

Any clue what caps.c is?

Hem...

If I undestand right, it reports a problem of KDE with my (ethernet) connection.
It is strange, because I use xfce and I don't see what it has to do with the desktop environment.

I have all my raw films on a NAS server and access through Wifi, I'll try to copy them locally and then use Kdenlive.

The crash has nothing to do with the messages read in the terminal.
Simply, an event triggers the message, and (possibly) the same event triggers the crash.
The crash / the event causing the crash does write nothing to the terminal.

It has something to do with Ubuntu/Xubuntu and Pulseaudio, and the fact that Kdenlive uses the SDL audio driver.

I don't have the solution at the moment, if I have it i'll post here:

After hours looking for a solution... the solution!

I activated/installed Pulseaudio back, chose "pulseaudio" in the configuration of Kdenlive.
Package "libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio" and "pavucontrol" are installed too.

Now running "pulseaudio" in a terminal I got errors.
Namely, the owner of the file ".pulse-cookie" was "root":
Failed to open cookie file '/home/thomas/.pulse-cookie'

Solution: change owner of that file (adapt "sudo" to your system).
sudo chown thomas:thomas .pulse-cookie

In pavucontrol i can see Kdenlive as client of pulseaudio :)
