Greetings,
Some of you may know that I write a twice-monthly on-line column for the Linux Journal [*]. Recently I've been reviewing Linux-based NLEs, and I've already published profiles on Kdenlive and OpenShot. I'm currently testing CinelerraCV and intend to cover a few other NLEs. I've tested what I believe to be every freely available NLE for Linux. Taken all together, for my purposes I prefer the feature sets in Kdenlive and LiVES. However, performance-wise Kdenlive is the clear winner. Its workflow is excellent, its stability has been much improved, its UI is superb, etc etc etc. I've been contracted by Linux User magazine to write a "video editor roundup", and unless something comes along to blow it out of the water Kdenlive is my strong recommendation for "typical" desktop video production. Great praise to the devs for their continued work on this excellent program. My suggestions remain the same as I've made them before: JACK support, random placement and flexible application range for all fx (audio and video), and that's about all. Oh yeh, I'd like a darker gray theme: Any preferred darker themes ? My thanks to the development and users communities for Kdenlive. May its success increase. :) Best, dp [*] http://www.linuxjournal.com/user/800764/track |
