Hello,
I'm very new to kdenlive but using Linux for about 8 years. My PC is a Q6600 with 4GB ram and a Nvidia 8500GT card. I'm using openSuse 11.2 (beta) and building my own ffmpeg, mlt and kdenlive packages. So, I hoped that with all latest svn/git version, Kdenlive would be able to use the advantage of VDPAU. But when I put some clips from my (Sanyo Xanti FH1 Full-HD 1920x1080p@30fps) camcorder on the timeline it plays with 90-100% CPU-load on 1 core. It stutters with a Dissolve transition. So, is this normal or can Kdenlive use more than 1 core and probably vdpau but is there something wrong with my setup/system? |

VDPAU is not integrated in Kdenlive yet. The integration has to be done in the video framework (MLT and FFmpeg). Currently, we are waiting for FFmpeg to allow an easier access to VDPAU, some patches have been submitted by an FFmpeg developer but are not yet accepted, so it may take some time until we can get it into Kdenlive...

That's good news & bad news. Hopefully nothing wrong with my install but no real speedup improvements. Hopefully they accept the submitted patches soon (can I vote for it?).
Is it possible to apply those patches to the current svn version? |
