I have the above unit.

I used it for a long while with my XP PC and pinnacle studio, then set it aside for a year and now I'm trying to dump some more tapes.


I couldnt find the firewire that I had used before so i went and bought a new one

since the cost between 6ft and 14 ft was $3 i bought the longer

no go (AMD X2 2500, 4gb ram etc)

thinking maybe too much impedence i exchanged it for the 6foot, no go.

moved my fire card to my linux box , MDV 2010, kde kdenlive, 4gb ram 2TB HD AMD x4 2,5ghz)

still no go

looking through this forum the basuc unstructions seem to be "press connect" kdenlive will initialize and youre all set.

i dont believe i have a connect button here.

dont believe I used it a year ago, but I was hoping someone here may have used this camera and know of something that may work

i tried lsmod | grep 1394 and got

aw1394 24476 0
ohci1394 30100 0
ieee1394 87244 2 raw1394,ohci1394


but still nothing coming into kdenlive

any and all ideas welcome

actually,following that same set of instructions from previous how to, i tried the cli and did get the command not recognized

im using mandriva which didnt recognize that lib when i chcked the repos

now i guessa few mmore manua, attempts

although i fooound the connect buttom. and that said no camera connected

worse yet i found the big brother (d396) in a pawn shop and brought that home w/ the same results.

now i'll try manually searching the net for that lib.
