H.264 Playback too slow or too fast

Thu Feb 04, 2010 7:42 am
Hi,
I have MP4 files that I got off my Samsung camera. I put them in a project in kdenlive and they either playback too slow or too fast. I tried running the files with Melt too and they playback too slow in Melt as well.
Any help would be appreciated.

Which version of FFmpeg / MLT are you running? Maybe that issue is already solved in the latest development versions. The best way to discover it (unless you want to compile both from source) is to open an issue in our bugtracker and to attach a small sample clip so that we can test it.

Hi,
Thanks for replying. I have ffmpeg version:
FFmpeg version SVN-r19352-4:0.5+svn20090706-2ubuntu2

melt version:

MLT melt 0.4.4

Seems to be Melt that gives me the problem. When I playback my clip with ffplay, it plays fine. when I play it back with Melt, it plays slow.

Lots of fixes have been committed in FFmpeg / MLT regarding h263 in the last weeks / months, so you should definitely update your MLT version. We are currently at version 0.4.10, and the next one should be released soon.

If you want, you can open a bug report with a sample video file or give us a link to a short video file so that we can test it against recent svn/git versions of FFMpeg / MLT

hi,
Thanks for the reply. I added my camera here with some video links:

http://www.kdenlive.org/video-editor/samsung-hmx-h100nm

Here are the versions I am using. I did not build ffmpeg from source but kdenlive and melt I did. Is it still worthwhile for me to create a bug report?

$ kdenlive --version
Qt: 4.5.2
KDE: 4.3.5 (KDE 4.3.5)
Kdenlive: 0.7.6

$ melt --version
MLT melt 0.4.10
