Hi Kdenlivers,
First of all i am wondering whether this is the right place for my post to be. My KDenLive reports saying "SDL failed to open audio: No available audio device". I have attached screenshots which describe the KdenLive error and my audio devices. can somebody show me a clue to get the audio to work ? cheers Dan |

Kdenlive uses SDL for audio output. Check if you have installed libsdl1.2debian-alsa

Thanks J-B-M
Installing that fixed the audio problem. but now again another error happened with video. Please check the attached screenshot , Do you notice that video is getting twisted ? http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/9821/screenshot14b.png <-- screenshot link |

@funk: crackling sound may be related to pulseaudio, which causes lots of problems with Kdenlive, check our forums for more infos on that and how to solve it (removing pulseaudio or various other suggestions, I don't remember exactly).
@danushka: Open a terminal and try playing your file with the following commands: 1) ffplay myvideo.mpg 2) melt myvideo.mpg Tell us the result of steps 1) and 2) and also which version of MLT you have installed (make sure you don't have several versions installed) |

hi j-b-m
results of both steps are similar and video was NOT twisted. only difference is that ffplay ran the video full screen and melt ran it windowed. cheers Dan |

Try deleting Kdenlive's setting file in case there is a config issue:
delete file $HOME/.kde/share/config/kdenliverc |

Yes J-B-M, thanks. I know that's pulseaudio problem, but i don't want to remove it, because now is the first time, when everything behaves out of the box, instead of Kdenlive. What do you think, will be situation better in Ubuntu Lucid? Sorry for my bad English. P.

On Ubuntu you should use libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio, not -alsa!

Oh, yes, I've just copy and paste name of the package. Sorry. I naturally use libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio. When I've installed it, libsdl1.2debian-alsa automatically removed.

hey j-b-m
i upgraded to kdenlive 0.7.7 by completely removing the previous 0.7.6 and installing 0.7.7 from apt-get i saw that frame being twisted in the preview , i tested ffplay and melt and both were fine, i also deleted the config file you have mentioned , yet that frame twisting issue now persists. Is there a solution for this ? cheers Dan |

On some systems running Ubuntu 9.10, there have been reports of video being "squished to the top." This might be related. It is due to a bug in the SDL version 1.2.13 Ubuntu provides that has since been fixed in SDL v1.2.14, which is available in the lucid repo.
