Hi forum,
I have been trying to use KDENLIVE on my Notebook running Ubuntu Gnome Karmic, with a GM945 video card. It currently frequently crashes, could never get a reasonable output out of it. I have strong reasons to suspect the video driver, am I right? I am willing to test another distro, if it might help, which one would you recommend? I did not really fall in love with Kubuntu KDE Karmic. KDE is... somewhat too different and overbloated for me. Any suggestion from users of a GM945 driven notebook having a stable KDENLIVE running without too much tweaking are highly appreciated. Laszlo |

Maybe you would get a hint if you tried to run kdenlive from terminal.

As already suggested. You really need to be more specific if you want help.
Version of kdenlive and where from? Why do you think video driver? Specifics of crashes? What were you doing? File formats that might be involved? etc.. |

I have been using the current KDENLIVE version on the Synaptic repository of Ubuntu Karmic as of last week.
I am suspecting the video drivers, because the INTEL GMA 910 drivers used for an GMA 945 Graphic card are reputed to be somewhat unstable. It does apparently not matter which format I tried to edit MPEG2, FLV, DIVX I had crashes with all. Has someone a better experience with GMA945 based Notebooks? Laszlo |

I suppose now I have got the pulseaudio problem, which is just discussed in another thread.
I tried the debian live DVD and it works great. I will now try the debain version of PA on my Karmic and will report. Thanks for your advice. RIN67630 |
