Cannot connect to camcorder

Thu Apr 15, 2010 8:23 pm
I have Ubuntu 9.10 installed on my desktop pc. I cannot connect to my Sharp Viewcam vl-z300 camcorder via my firewire card. When I run lshw in terminal I can see the firewire card. Kdenlive version 0.7.5 is installed on my PC. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be and a solution if possible? I really need to get some footage off my camcorder. If no solution is there any other software which I can try out?

Thank you in advance

Try "sudo chmod 644 /dev/video0"
