Is there a way to quickly insert guides without having to type a comment?

Inserting guides with click of the mouse over the timeline, from the menu or a defined key combination, and then requiring to type a comment is not that efficient.

This is what I would like to do:
Say I place a melody (audio track) on the timeline, then I hit play, and hit the key to insert a guide at specific places (beats) of the melody.

Then I can insert video clips based on the guides.
