Imported video clip is distorted

Sun May 02, 2010 11:00 am
I plan to use the combo gtk-RecordMyDesktop and Kdenlive to produce online screencasts. However, when I try to import clips from RecordMyDesktop into Kdenlive, the clips are distorted. The sound is there, but the images are garbled, distorted beyond recognition.

Any help appreciated. Is this about choosing the right fps when recording, or are there settings in Kdenlive I am missing?

recordmydesktop saves as ogv and there are known problems with ogv.
To fix you have to transcode your clip. Either use "Fix Ogg Theora" or if this is also not working try "Lossless Matroska". This will create big files though.

ttill,
thanks for your reply, but I'm sorry this didn't help. Neither did any of the transcode options in Kdenlive.

Also take a look at this report: http://kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=618 (there are others on this issue too).
Do you get an error when transcoding to "fix ogg theora" or "lossless matroska"?
