Project Profiles and/or handy hints for super-wide aspect ratio video content
Mon Feb 06, 2012 7:55 am
hi - I have a need to create super wide screen video content for a local church.
The single screen is 7.2 metres by 1.8 metres in size, so call that 4:1 ratio (width/height) I have experimented with Kdenlive and can seem to create content in this approximate ratio but only up to about 2000x500 pizels in size. (still 4:1 ratio) larger than this and kdenlive crashes on play and render (might just be my system of course :^) just wanted to ask for advice / comments / suggestions to create content in this aspect ratio in the best possible video (all things being equal).... thanks any advance for anyone with input :^) brad |

Hi Brad,
I never produced videos in that size. But I wonder, what kind of projection you will use. Or do you want to feed an LED screen? In both cases I would think it is rather unlikely to feed the screen with a pixel-precise resolution. The screen hardware will have to do some upscaling. Proceeding on the assumption that the audience is quite far away from the screen, I would give a first try to edit HD material, will say 1980x480, which has a aspect ratio of 4:1, and then check how it looks like. I can hardly imagine that the big LED-walls, seen on concerts, are fed by material having 1:1 pixels in video material and on the screen. Good luck - maybe you can film the screen from the audience and put in into the Kdenlive Theatre here, that would be great. Achim |
