Hi all, I've been trying to show audio waveform on videos with no luck at all.
I have Ubuntu 10.04 64bit Kdenlive 0.7.8 ffmpeg installed Computer (I call it the Beast - self built) CPU Intel Quad Core Q6600 RAM 2GB Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT Motherboard: EVGA nForce 780i SLI I recently installed Linux Mint on an old Pent 4 (RAM)512MB. Installed Kdenlive .0.7.8 and audio waveform shows. I'm assuming there is possibly a missing dependency in the Beast computer. Kdenlive Settings Timeline --> Show audio thumbnails [ticked] Settings --> Configure Kdenlive --> Timeline Audio [ticked] Normalise audio for thumbnails [ticked] Bottom Right Show audio thumbnails icon [highlighted] I have been using Cinelerra but it keeps shutting down my computer when doing major edits(suspect CPU is over heating). Cinelerra has problems displaying audio waveforms if the video isn't dv avi type 2. Can you suggest what dependencies generate the Kdenlive audio waveform so I can check to see if they are installed? |

Well after 2 days working on this problem with no help from the forum. I found a solution. If you have this problem this is what I did:
**Don't do this ** Upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick = same problem (no audio waveform for video on timeline). You can't go backwards in Ubuntu versions, which meant I had to format the hard drive and re-install Ubuntu 10.04. The reason why I choose to revert back to 10.04 was because the repositories (ppa) for Cinelerra couldn't find the necessary files. So I did a fresh/clean install of Ubuntu 10.04 Added the ppa for Kdenlive: Go to System --> Administrator --> Software Sources In Software Sources select Other Software tab Click Add Enter the ppa ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release Click Add Source button Then click Close button your will be asked to reload. This will update your software sources. Now add the medibuntu repositories using a terminal (CLI) and enter the following code sudo wget --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/$(lsb_release -cs).list [Hit Enter] sudo apt-get --quiet update [Hit Enter] sudo apt-get --yes --quiet --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring [Hit Enter] sudo apt-get --quiet update [Hit Enter] Then I went to System --> Administration --> Synaptic Package Manager Did a quick search for Kdenlive Marked for installation kdenlive, kdenlive-data, kdenlive-dbg Click Apply button and install. Also make sure you install pulseaudio because there is probably now sound. BINGO!!! Audio Waveforms on the timeline. Thank you???? Oh... I guess I should pat myself on the back for a job well done. |
